Ok, so I’m working on my 2009 taxes. I don’t know if I could’ve handled this tax filing before online tax preparers were invented. They’re awesome, they walk me through, baby me through the steps to get my taxes done (I use TurboTax – No, I don’t get paid for that plug…). If you do your taxes on paper like the old days, you’re incredible. My dad used to do my taxes that way (He has a degree in Accounting and yes, my dad is smarter than yours…), and I can’t even imagine doing it that way anymore. Thanks, Dad!
But, man, taxes suck! They just keep chipping away at your income. This is why the smart and wealthy in our nation understand how to make money work for them rather than work for money. You own a business, you get tax breaks. You invest in property and income producing investments, you get sweet tax breaks. On the other hand, if you only have a job as an income, you get ripped on taxes.
On a lighter note, it helps that I own a home based business, which is part of the reason I’m in business for myself. The tax incentives are inescapable, especially in network marketing. Really, if you don’t consider starting a business just for the tax incentives, you’re nuts. Haha, just kidding, but seriously, you should consider it.
I really just wanted to vent on the tax thing because it owns at least one night of my life and usually a whole day when all is said and done, EVERY YEAR! Yippee, skippy …
Although I don’t like it much, the last couple years I’ve received a nice return thanks to my relatively young business. These are good things (Think positive, think positive…)!
God bless America,
Travis
