You know when you have those revelations every now and again that make you go, “Yep, that’s what needs to happen…”?  Well, I’ve had one of those.  I’ve had a moment that after evaluating the work I’ve done so far in “2010 – The Best Year of My Life“, I’ve come to the realization that success comes when we focus and work on what’s effectively building our business and leave behind the stuff that’s a waste of time.

Why do I bring this up?  It’s mainly for me, because I know many of you don’t care about reading every single blog post I put up everyday.  But, it matters to me for this purpose, this being the main reason, because I committed to it.  My commitment at the beginning of the year was to write a blog post every day for a year.  That’s 365 blog posts by the end of the year, and while very doable, you have to weigh out the advantages and disadvantages of putting forth that kind of time for something of this nature.

Now, if my business revolved around building a blog that would start bringing in advertising income, affiliate commissions and adsense revenue, discontinuing the amount of blog posts I’m putting up would be a bad idea.  My business does not involve those things!  It involves connecting with people on a real and true basis, face to face and over the phone.  It involves being there to help people sign up to join my team.  Although the blog enhances that by allowing me to communicate how that is going in my business, it doesn’t help to build my business …

So, at some point I have to ask and decide, will I continue to consistently work on something that brings little return (at the moment) with the risk of hurting my business returns?  And the easy answer to that for me is, “NO!”  The whole point of the “Best Year of My Life” is that I’ll succeed in business, so I must rid myself of things that hinder the achievement of that goal …

Anyways, what does the “light bulb type moment” have to do with it?  Well, I’ve come to the realization that for my success, I need to focus on the things that are bringing me success, those things that make me a better businessman.  While the blog is a great tool to get the message out there, it just isn’t the finest tool for building my business.

Rest assured, the blog isn’t going to change that much, you just won’t see some of the filler content that I’m apt to put up so that I can say I’ve blogged that day when in reality I’ve just provided a bit of content I threw together in 3 minutes to get the “blog everyday monkey” off my back.  So, as I’m still committed to bringing great content, and as we have some new bloggers who will be providing content as well, we’ll still have a great discussion and resource here for you.  Also, I’m not giving up on my “Featured Friday Interview” anytime soon as they’ve been wildly successful.

So, I apologize for not blogging everyday from here on out (I apologize especially to those who had any month but February in the “When will Travis stop blogging everyday pool”), but I’m sure you’ll appreciate that I’m focusing on providing great content that will help you, help me and help us build great businesses and strong mindsets rather than filler content that makes you say, “Why did I come here in the first place?”
